Our Birth Justice Film Festival (BJFF) introduces educational, engaging, and thought-provoking documentaries followed by expert panel discussions. In 2020, we created our national virtual watch party experience. For 2023 our BJFF will be both virtual and in person.

We will host a live watch party in New Orleans at the Diboll Gallery Auditorium inside the Tulane University School of Public Health on Canal Street, while we simultaneously broadcast to our virtual registrants. This year The Art of Birthing will feature five documentaries. The Business of Birth Control; The Black Fatherhood Project; Bone Black; Laboring with Hope; and a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Bringin in Da Spirit.

While registration for this event is free, we encourage you to make a donation and "Add On" to your ticket purchase. Enhance your experience and your vibe with the addition of a specially curated Virtually Vibin' TAOB Box.

In New Orleans? You can also “Add On” our All Access pass which will include your box and admission to our Thursday author talk with Linda Janet Holmes, our Friday afternoon wellness workshop and our Friday evening Black Midwife Celebration!

Be clear, no matter where or how you join us... It's gonna be a VIBE!!!

Sixty years after the pill revolutionized women's emancipation, The Business of Birth Control examines the complex relationship between hormonal birth control and women’s health and liberation.

The documentary traces the feminist movement to investigate and expose the pill's risks alongside the racist legacy of hormonal contraception and its ongoing weaponization against communities of color.

Through the use of first person narrative and rare archival images, this documentary provides a moving glimpse of the women who have skillfully brought scores of children across the threshold of existence. Narrated by Phylicia Rashad, this evocative and passionate film celebrates women who have committed themselves to holistic answers amidst powerful misconceptions about the practice of midwifery and virulent opposition from practitioners of Western medicine
